Player Usage

In NBA DFS, usage is one of the most important factors of success and explains the rate at which a player is “used” on each possession. To use a possession, a player either shoots, gets fouled, or commits a turnover, highlighting which players actually have the ball in their hands.

Meanwhile, true shooting percentage measures a player’s efficiency on all shots (free throws, two-pointers, and three-pointers). Similarly, effective field goal percentage measures efficiency on just two-pointers and three-pointers, but weights three-pointers more heavily because of their increased difficulty.

The app displays player usage rate compared to his true shooting percentage or effective field goal percentage. You can set a filter on the range of dates that you want to view as well as a minimum true shooting attempts (field goal attempts plus free throw attempts) to filter out potential outliers.
